Featuring 10 gorgeous cool toned shades, the ELF Intergalactic Palette has the perfect combination for creating a cool neutral everyday look, or something with a pop of color – just look how stunning those blue and purple shimmers are!

The ELF Intergalactic Eyeshadow Palette is a new release in the brand’s Perfect 10 Eyeshadow Palette range, and I’ve been enjoying using it for the last few weeks.

I think this is one of the best eyeshadow palettes at the drugstore for a variety of reasons. However, it may not be the best for those new to makeup as it’s not completely foolproof when it comes to application.

*If you’re a beginner to makeup, you may prefer another palette in the ELF Perfect 10 Eyeshadow Palette range – the ELF Rose Gold Sunset Palette.*

In this review, I’m going to share my thoughts on the formulation, wearability, and what makes it great value for money.

I’ve also got swatches below of each eyeshadow shade within the palette too!

I only review makeup products that have been personally tested by myself after a period of a few months. This gives me enough time to determine the effectiveness of the product, and provide a trustworthy overview.

ELF Intergalactic Eyeshadow Palette Review

Here’s a rundown of how the ELF Intergalactic Eyeshadow Palette performs, as well as some swatches of the product so you can see what it looks like on the skin.

ELF Intergalactic Eyeshadow Palette Overview

This ELF shadow palette contains 10 beautiful eyeshadows from white to blue, nudes, and black. For the name ‘Intergalactic’, I would expect the blues, purple, and silver. However, the nude tones are probably not what you’d consider for a ‘space’ themed palette.

That said, these tones could almost be split into two 5-pan palettes – colorful and nudes – this makes it a unique combination.

Intergalactic contains 4 matte shades, 2 shimmers and 4 metallic glitters.

Formulation and shades

All the shadows in this ELF palette feel soft and smooth, even the glitters.

The white and black matte shadows feel a little chalky and work best with a slightly damp brush. However, they’re easy to blend and the pigment can be built up.

The silver shimmer shade is the least pigmented. It performs better when wet but it’s still slightly disappointing. It could be used dry as an eyeshadow topper as you’d get a little sparkle but if you’re looking for a highly pigmented silver, you may not like this one.

The best shades in this palette are the shimmers and metallic glitters – these are great! You need to use the deep blue carefully – pat this on your lid with your finger, otherwise, you may experience fallout.

The blue, purple, and chocolate brown are stunning. They have great pigmentation, feel smooth, and can be easily blended out.

Packaging

The palette has a lightweight plastic case which is sturdy enough to protect the shadows should you wish to travel with it.

The size of the compact can easily fit into a pencil-sized cosmetic bag – super handy if you want to take it on the go with you.

Price point

Priced £10/$10 for 10 shades, the ELF Intergalactic Eyeshadow palette is an affordable drugstore option if you’re looking for some pops of color in your collection.

This palette is a great addition for anyone wanting something different, such as wanting to experiment with color. You still get those neutral ‘fail-safe’ options but you can also add bright tones to your looks.

Longevity and wearability

The shades within the Intergalactic palette provide amazing versatility. I love the brighter tones, but also that there are some nudes in here too.

I much prefer this palette to the Rose Gold Sunset version due to the variety of looks that you can create with this one.

The smooth texture and pigmentation of the blues and purple are great, while the neutral shades offer the chance to create wearable looks for the office, work, or school.

The wear time of these shadows is good – the white, black and silver need to be used damp and with a primer to get the most out of them. The blue glitter shade also needs to be patted on to stop flaking.

For that reason, I wouldn’t recommend this palette for makeup beginners but if you know how to apply different shades and textures, or you want to try some colorful options, then this is a good choice.

Suitability for different skin types and ages

The color selection is more suited for people who enjoy cool tones due to the cool nature of this palette.

If you prefer warmer tones, definitely check out the Rose Gold Sunset Palette instead.

These shadows perform best over an eyeshadow primer, especially if you have oily eyelids. Alternatively, you could use them over a base like concealer.

ELF Intergalactic Eyeshadow Palette Review: Final Thoughts

The ELF Intergalactic eyeshadow palette is a superb choice for anyone looking for affordable cool tones to create a variety of bold or neutral looks.

I really enjoy using this shadow palette as the blues are unlike anything I own and I don’t need to use separate palettes if I want to use neutral or more colorful shades.

If you’re looking for a good drugstore eyeshadow palette, then this is definitely one to consider. There is a slight learning curve in terms of application – these are not just ‘one and done’ types of shadows.

But, if you’re searching for a cheap makeup palette with a little pop of color, then the ELF Intergalactic palette is perfect.
