How is blogging worth it?

In the past, you would need to have a blog with a lot of content in order to make passive income. This is no longer the case, in fact, it’s actually quite the opposite. Nowadays you can earn an income from your blog even if you only have a few posts on your website.

How? Here are a few ways.

Affiliate Marketing

Well, this is where things get interesting! The most popular way that bloggers make money these days is through affiliates. Affiliates are basically products and companies that will pay you for each person that visits their site and makes a purchase using your link.

The great part about this affiliate marketing is that it doesn’t matter how many posts you have on your blog, as long as someone clicks on one of your links and buys something, then you’ll get paid.

The amount of money that you’ll earn will depend entirely on which product they buy and how much it costs them. For example, if you join an affiliate program that offers 50% commission and your reader buys an item for $10 from the affiliate site, then you’ll get $5.

There are also other methods that you can use to earn money which makes blogging worth it.

Advertising

Once you begin to drive traffic to your personal blog, you can make money online from display ads. There are varying types of ad networks you can join to start monetizing your website. One of the easiest to join is Google Adsense.

The first way that I made money was through Google Adsense ads on my blog. Google Adsense is an advertising network where you get paid every time someone clicks on an ad on your website.

The good news is that you don’t need a certain number of readers or views to join. However, it’s important that you’re driving traffic to your website as you won’t earn any money otherwise, and the more traffic you have, the more chance you have of actually making money.

Selling Digital Products

The second way that I made money with my personal blog was by selling digital products. This is one of the easiest ways to make passive income because all you have to do is set up an online store, add some products, then start promoting it to encourage your blog readers to visit your store.

I’ve used Etsy to generate money online, but you can also use your blogging website to create an online business with digital goods. In fact, I suggest having your own website as this is something you can sell in the future.

While Blogger is a free blogging platform, I highly recommend that anyone considering starting a blog uses WordPress.

WordPress is the best blogging platform to start blogging on, and you can simply add a Woocommerce plugin to create start an online shop.

Selling Ad Space

Another way that I’ve made money with my blog was by selling ad space on my site. You can do this by either placing ads on your blog or by adding a sidebar widget to your website. This is a great way to make money because you don’t have to do anything (other than adding the adverts to your site). Just sit back and watch your bank account grow!

Sponsored Posts

Sponsored posts are an excellent way to monetize your blog as you get paid to create content. A brand will either pay you to write a blog post, make youtube videos, or for creating content on social media.

For this type of monetization, you’ll either need to have decent blog traffic or have an engaged target audience on your social media platforms.

For new bloggers, I recommend focusing on creating quality content, keyword research, and content marketing to build your blog.

Once you’ve established a semi-successful blog, you can then join blogging networks like Intellifluence and Get Blogged.

Online Courses

Once you’ve grown a successful blog, you can really start to build a blogging business. Courses are huge in the online business world as you can take your passive income into the stratosphere.

Instead of readers coming to view a general blog post, you can start to think of your audience as potential customers.

Naturally, you’ll need to be recognized as an expert in your field for people to want to buy what you’re offering. But, with the right content marketing in place, you can step up in the blogging world to become your own boss.

Selling Your Skills

From your blog, you can also begin to sell your skills, such as freelance writing, content marketing, photography, or coaching. This is a great way to get paid for the value that you provide to others.

In order to sell your skills, you need to make sure that you have a website that showcases what you can do. For example, if you want to become a freelance writer, then it would be great if your site had samples of your writing. This will show potential clients what they can expect from working with you.

Alternatively, you can create a blog post that is tailored to your ideal client.

If you’re not ready to start selling your skills yet, then don’t worry! You can still start building traffic and getting followers on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. This will help build up your reputation as an expert in your field. Then, once you are ready, it will be easy for people to find out more about what services that you offer.

Selling Your Blog

Is blogging worth it in 2023?

Well, if you’re still not sure, listen up!

The final way that I’ve made money with blogs is by selling them.

Personal blogs are digital real estate. This means that when you start creating content on your website, get recognized by search engines, and get internet users flocking to read your blog posts, you have an asset that you can sell for thousands of dollars.

Top blogs are being sold on sites like Flippa for life-changing amounts of money so starting a blog can become extremely valuable.

However, even as a relatively new blogger, you can sell your website, particularly if you’ve got several long form posts on there. You won’t make as much money as established blogs, but you can easily earn a couple of hundred dollars.

When you start a blog, you are basically creating a business that you can sell for a profit, similar to how you would sell any other business. It is probably the hardest type of income stream to create because it requires a lot of work up front, but if done right it makes blogging massively profitable.

Other Benefits of Starting A Blogging Journey

How else is blogging worth it?

It’s Fun

First off, there is the simple fact that blogging is fun and rewarding. I mean, who wouldn’t want to earn money doing something they enjoy.

This is one of the best parts about blogging because it doesn’t feel like a day job at all, in fact, it’s just like writing a journal or diary (except people will actually read what you write).

You Can Work From Home

Another great thing about blogging is that you can do it from anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection. Yes, that’s right, you can work (or play) from the comfort of your own home and still make money online from your blog.

It Improves Your Writing Skills

Blogging is also an excellent way to learn how to write better and gain content marketing experience. It will help improve your writing skills and teach you how to express yourself in a unique way. This is something that employers want because they know that people with good communication skills will be more successful at their jobs.

You Can Meet Other Bloggers

Blogging is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family and to meet new people from all over the world. You can learn about their culture, religion, politics, and even their language. This will help you grow as a person by exposing you to new ways of thinking and living.

You Get To Share Your Expertise

As you write more and more blog posts, you’ll develop a reputation as an expert in your niche. This will help you get even more traffic to your blog.

If you’re writing about a topic that other people are interested in, then they’ll want to read your blog posts, and may even link to them from their own website. Getting links is effective in generating more traffic to your site, and boosting domain authority.

How Long Does It Take To Get Blog Readers?

OK, so is blogging worth it when it comes to growing a lovely community of readers?

Getting lots of blog readers really depends on how much time and effort that you put into writing a new post, and how consistent you are.

If you work hard at it, then it shouldn’t take too long before you start seeing results. The key is just not giving up on your blog.

Once you start getting more and more readers, you can start to monetize your blog. But, the real reward is seeing your blog grow and succeed.

How Do Bloggers Get More Readers Coming To Their Blog?

If you want to go beyond blogging as a hobby, you’re going to need to grow your readership.

Is blogging worth it when it comes to getting more views?

Well, here are a few of my favorite blogging tips that many bloggers use to grow their blogs into an online business.

Be Present On Social Media

Sharing interesting blog posts on social media sites will encourage people to start following your social accounts. In turn, this gives them instant access to other amazing blog posts that you create.

After every new blog post that you publish, share it to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram.

Forum Signatures

By posting your website’s link in your forum signatures, other forum users will be able to visit your site and read your blog posts.

Post On Forums

Posting on forums like Reddit is an effective way for people to find your blog. Just make sure that you post in relevant groups and engage with people organically rather than spamming them with links to your blog posts.

Blog Commenting

Commenting on other blogs in your niche increases your exposure, and the amount of traffic that you potentially get from Google search. This is because commenting on other blogs can enhance the backlinks of your blog.

Article Repurposing

Repurposing your blog’s content (rewriting small parts of your posts) and publishing them to LinkedIn and Medium can help people to discover your blog.

If you use this approach, put a link back to your original article somewhere in the post. This way, people can find your website.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is something that every successful blogger does. Essentially, you create a lead magnet or piece of content that you give people for free in exchange for their email address.

Once you build a list of email subscribers from your blog, you can start to send them emails about your latest posts, include an affiliate link to specific products or services you use, and promote any products that you make yourself. This is something that many other businesses use email marketing for.

So, Is Blogging Dead?

Hell no. When I first started blogging back in 2010, I had no idea that it would open so many doors. I’ve gained a new job as a freelance copywriter, sold products, sold blogs, and earned cash from affiliate products.

As you can see, when people ask me ‘is blogging worth it?’, I tell them, 100% yes! People all over the world still read blogs daily, and it can lead to many great things.

Some people blog because they simply love writing and it gives them a creative outlet, while others use their blog to sell products and reach potential customers.

Is blogging worth it if you’re a new blogger?

The great news is that anyone can start a blog. Whether you read blogs regularly and would love to begin your own, or you want to be the next personal finance blogging superstar, the world is your oyster.
